Vocalist and composer Merinda Dias-Jayasinha is happiest when she is singing. Whether it be jazz, improvised, chamber, or new music, she delights in storytelling and pursuing musical excellence through her art and collaborations.

Now Melbourne-based after a recent move from Brisbane, Merinda writes for and sings in a number of diverse ensembles and projects. In 2018, Merinda released First Cycle, a record of chamber compositions, with her string/voice quartet Meridians.

A Bachelor of Music (Honours) graduate from the Queensland Conservatorium, Merinda studied with renowned vocal pedagogue Dr. Irene Bartlett and celebrated Australian jazz vocalist Kristin Berardi. She has performed at the Melbourne International Jazz Festival, Brisbane International Jazz Festival, and Melbourne Women's International Jazz Festival, as well as the Brisbane Jazz Club, JMI Live, Queensland Performing Arts Centre, and The JazzLab.

Merinda is cementing her place in Australia’s emerging generation of jazz musicians.
